One-Man-Charge

5 Week Prototype

Above is the 5 week update to the One-Man-Charge Prototype.

4 Week Prototype

Above is the 4 week update to the One-Man-Charge Prototype.

Notable Additions:

  • Added sound for most basic mechanics

  • Switched to Universal Render Pipeline

  • Minor changes to color pallete of characters

  • Enemies are highlighted as an additional warning to players on when they should press the attack button. Highlights also reveal in advance the outcome of the player’s attack

    • Red: The enemy has a Power Level above your own. This will result in a “semi-clash”. The player will be rewarded with additional Power as usual, but in a much smaller amount. In addition, they will suffer a decrease in current Speed Level. Enemies whose Power you have yet to match should be avoided when possible.

    • White: The Player is of equal Power Level to the upcoming enemy. A successful Sword Clash will result in a gain of Power up to 15% dependant on your current Speed.

    • Blue: The Player has a greater Power Level than the oncoming enemy. Player’s will be rewarded with an increase in Power Level up to 15%. However, unlike with a Sword Clash, this increase in Power is less dependant on your current speed level. In translation, you consistently acquire more of your 15% max Power Reward upon attaining a Kill than you would a Clash. In addition, the Player will receive an increase of Speed up to 6% depending on the Enemy’s Power Level.

  • Additional Optimization across the board

  • Placeholder Menu items/Canvases added for all planned levels.

2 Week Prototype

Above is the two week progress of the One-Man-Charge Prototype. The goal was to establish all basic/core mechanics while using placeholder assets to convey said mechanics in the simplest form possible. Purchased Asset Packs such as Infinity PBR’s Low-Poly Humans has kept this process efficient. The gameplay shows a single complete run of Level 1-1, the first level players unlock post-tutorial. This includes the “Finisher Sequence” at the end of the level that will show varying levels of carnage based on your score.
